Collective and Federated Farmers approach to Submissions on the Draft Rules

Federated Farmers and the Collective Executive will be going through the details of the Draft Nutrient Rules once they have been notified on the 29th February. Together we will formulate comprehensive submissions on behalf of our respective members. It’s important that we get to hear your views. There will be two farmer meetings to discuss the rules, the procedure going forward and guide you through the submission process. These will both be held at the Ngongotaha Hall on Monday March 7 and Monday April 4. We only have 33 working days to pull this together, with submissions closing on the 15 April!

It is also important that farmers develop their own, individual submissions. We’ll try and simplify this process by providing a template for you to use and adapt, complete with a summary of the key issues that will hopefully help to identify what’s important to you.

You can find info about the proposed rules on our website: www.rotoruafarmers.org.nz/nutrient-rules or on the Rotorua Te Arawa Lakes website: www.rotorualakes.co.nz/plan-change-10
There is also a really useful guide on how to make a submission on the MFE website here

If you own land in the Lake Rotorua catchment, we strongly encourage you to GET INVOLVED! Making a submission is the first step in a long legal process. Here’s what this process looks with time frames where known.
